Exclamation Excursion theft

Has anyone heard that ever since Ford changed the base on the keyless entry code switch on the driver side door, there has been a rash of break ins to their excursions?? My friend called me last night to warn me that not only is it all over the net telling thieves exacly how to do it but it is extremely easy to do. This happened to their '04 over the Christmas holiday.

How are people doing this? Where is this on the net? I just want to prevent it.

It is at the keyless entry pad on the driver's side door. They changed it from steel to plastic thus allowing thieves to pop it open with ease. I wonder if and when they will change it back. If not, wonder if you can use the old style and pop it in?

When did they change from steel to plastic?? Is this a problem with all the excursions or was it a change in the last couple years?

I think it is pointless to worry about it or to spend big bucks to prevent it. Last time I checked all the windows were glass, someone wants your truck it would be easier to break a window than pry the door mechanism apart. Enjoy your truck and make sure you have good insurance.

A friend of mine is a locksmith and safe tech. He tells me that if a professional wants your vehicle, nothing you can do will stop them. I agree, enjoy your truck and keep the insurance paid!!

Sometimes I think it's better to leave the thing unlocked. That way they won't break any. Then again, I had a freind that never locked his vehicle and they still smashed the window.

I guess the jimmi jammer is ok........until the thief breaks apart the plastic door handle at the key hole and just turns the whole cylinder to open our superduties/excursions.
