My father owns a 2000 expedition, he is currently experiencing problems with the battery draining all of the time. If the vehicle sits for more than a day he needs to jump it. He had it to a Ford garage and found nothing noticably wrong. He replaced the battery only to experience the same problem day after day. Anyone have a clue what to look at next??
We had a similar issue with a '99 Mustang Cobra that Ford ended up buying back... The GEM Module showed a Power Drain when it shouldn't have... Some Accessory was drawing power constantly (you'd think a switched link couldn't do that with the Ignition off)...
Any new installs??? They claimed mine was the Lo-Jack (ended up being one of the Factory Sub-Amps)...
I remember a guy whose truck was having a power drain, after months of trying to find it, it ended up being the high mount brake light. Problem is, I don't remember if it was an Expedition or Explorer... (Sorry). I do remember that at the time it was a neon bulb that lit the high mount, and some flaw with the neon bulb starter or somesuch was causing it to just barely be on all the time, drawing a small trickle, making the light barely light up. So little that it was never noticed until it got so bad that it was making the high mount flash on and off at weird random times.
it could be that the alternator isn't charging the battery, so the engine n electrical equipment is sucking up the power.
could be the subwoofer amp or a short in the wiring.
i've had the same problems with 2 different cars in the past n it was the alternator that had gon bad.
This happened to my neighbor's car. He finally found the problem. It was his power seat switch that was stuck on "ON" all the time. He replaced the switch and the car was fine. But it could be so many other parts like the computer, alternator, power door locks.... anything stays on with the ignition off could be the problem. By the way, have you disconnected the battery at night and reconnect it in the morning just to make sure your battery is ok?

We are having the same problem with my wife's 2003 Expy XLT. Today the dealer installed a new battery. It took three trips to the dealer to get that. I left the battery charger out just in case it doesn't start tommorrow. LOL.
I am hoping to let the truck sit this weekend - and hopefully the new battery solved this problem. I have heard of one or two cells going "bad" even in new batteries ( truck has 12k miles on it.) I have a feeling that it will not start on the fourth day. Dealership just thought is was easiest / cheapest solution after 2 weeks of trying to solve problem. I will keep you posted of results.
Try checking out the GEM current consumation. When this electronic units behaves bad it does not sleep and stays on when ignition is off. More than 10mA consumation can be the symphom for a problem, this is not too much current but in the long run it could drain the battery so easily

Just wanted to get back to you. My wives EXPY started this morning with no problems. The real test is will it start after sitting two days. I'll let ya know.

Not trying to hi-jack the thread here but, didn't Ford attempt to buy back all the 99 Cobras because the HP was grossly overrated at 320 (I think). Just wondering if you experienced that, since you had one that got bought back.
