for the life of me i can not find out how to adjust my throttle cable. I need to have it a little longer. I put a edelbrock carb on it and bought the atatchments to relocate the throttle and kick down for the auto trns. I looked in the manual and there is nothing on this. so what is the deal.
I'm having the same problem on my 84 Bronco. I emailed Edelbrock yesterday (getting through on the tech line is a joke). If I hear something from them, I'll let you know.
Never heard from Edelbrock but I finally made the 1491 plate kit work. If you happen to have the same configuration maybe what I did will work for you too. I hope I can communicate what I did.
I found the answer in drilling an additional hole in the plate. The one I received had only two sets of holes which matched the mount on the engine. The hole at the end of the plate goes to the inboard hole on the mount. It's mate goes over the outboard hole BUT the inboard hole on the original throttle plate also attaches to this hole. I used a slightly longer bolt to compensate for the additional thickness.
When you do a test fit with this configuration the outboard hole on the orginal throttle plate will locate the hole which needs to be drilled. You'll use only one of the extra bolts they sent and it goes at this point.
That should get you real close to the right length. I still had to bend the original plate forward about 1/4 inch to get the butterfly to close fully but that was no big deal.
Hope you can make some sense out of this and get things up an running. I just finished my first road test. Beats the heck out of that old Holley!
Almost forgot. I did not need the 8011 transmission rod extension. The spring which came with the 1483 kit was way too long. I used one out of my grab bag.
ya i need just a hair more I already bent it a little so I will try what you did. its just dumb you buy this kit and it dosent work. thanks for the help.
