On My 89 F250 Idi When I Am Driving It The Fuel Filter Light Will Come On. Yes I Have Changed The Filter A Dozen Times And It Still Does It. When The Light Comes On The Engine Will Run Real Rough, And When Coming To A Stop The Engine Is Buckin And Kickin, Like Its Running Out Of Gas, And Will Sometimes But Not Often ,stall. It Doesn't Do This All Of The Time However. Somedays Good, Somedays Bad. And Sometimes THE LIGHT Wont Come On Gleaming But Really Dim. Somtimes Dim To Gleaming To Gone. Like It Fades In And Out. I'll Have The Accelorator Depressed The Same Amount And It Seems When It Comes On I Get An Extra Boost Of Speed OR Sometimes Bogs It Down. Confused I am....any Help?

I ran into a guy in Ohio who was having a problem with his truck acting that way ... fuel light comes on, goes out, runs ruff , etc. I found the wire for the water in fuel light was chaffed along the valve cover. After I moved it away from there, the problem stopped. Coincidence ?? You may also have gotten a good dose of water at the last fueling station. Add a good additive (power service) to the fuel and make it a little richer than it calls for and see if it helps. Hope this helps you out.
i too thought it was just a case of bad fuel as i went to the cheapest station in town...but i have been trying all diffrent gas stations and have tried the fuel additive....still the problem exsists
just a though but maybe you have something stuck in your fuel lines how cold does it get there. has this arised just rescently (maybe a little cold weather might have slowed down the fuel or your fuel pump maybe going out.)
You may have a grounded out power wire to the FSS.......Try a 12v jumper to the FSS (fuel shutoff solenoid) for a day or two see if it comes back. One major point.....YOU MUST REMOVE THE JUMPER TO STOP THE ENGINE, TURNING OFF THE IGNITION WILL DO NOTHING.
ha the cold eh...naw, i live here in florida so i dont think its the cold but i was suspecting something clogged but i figured it would do it all the time if there was a clog. i had my ip replaced 2 years ago and i am running a pusher pump as well for further info...as for the FSS....where is it located?
