I have an early 99 and have develooped a fuel leak somewhere. I have wrappped the lines coming to the filter housing and they are dry. The fuel is pouring down the back of the engine and droppine off the transmission. It only leaks when the Engine is running and it a: a mess and b: kills my milage. I thank anyone who has a suggestion to find it in advance.
I have a quick question for you. What about this thread? https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/s...d.php?t=324077
Word of advice. Keep posting the same question over and over again, you will just annoy people and not get any responses to your original question. If you have more to add do so to your original posting.
Now that my lesson in forum etiquette is over we can get to your original problem, I have no idea. The thing I have always done is clean everything real well. Start the motor and look for the leak. If it is "pouring" down the back of the motor as you said it shouldn't be too hard to find.
Good luck
Mike
I had a very similar problem on my '97 and it turned out to be the feeder pump that attaches to the fuel housing. Dripped fuel back behind the engine as well. I don't know how much different your engine set-up in the '99 is but it might be worth a look.
I also found this problem on my 99. The passenger's side fuel line from the filter has a hole in it. The clamp that holds it to the cylinder head rubbed a hole in the line. I don't mean the fitting at the cylinder head either. It's a P shaped clamp that holds the line in place to keep it from vibrating of all things. Apparently it didn't do it's job real well! LOL
I did an extensive search on "Fuel leaks" and found the 735 posts about the water drain valve, fuel pumps and filter housings... But not one post about the clamp wearing a hole in the fuel line itself.
Somebody else has to have had this problem... Anyone? Anyone?

I had the same problem with my early 99 psd. Turned out to be the 2 small o-rings on the fuel/water drain valve. Easy fix...had to buy a whole drain valve assy. from ford.
I had the same problem with my '99 and found out that the O-rings in the fuel water seperator go out so often that the dealers can't keep them in stock. Its an easy fix.
when my o-rings went I had a couple drips here and there and then had a small puddle now and then under my transmission. I also had a small puddle in the valley of my intake.
