Has anybody had the problem of the spedometer reading faster than you are really going? I have had multiple family members follow me, and all have asked me why I drove 5mph under the speed. Then I had my husband follow me on the highway, and we spoke via cell phone...and sure enough I was doing exactly 5mph slower than what he was. If anyone has had this problem and had it corrected, did you have any further problems, or additional problems start after the recalibration?
I compared my speedo on my 2004 FX4 Scab reading to GPS and found that the speedo reads 5% high. I also found the exact same thing on my 2002 Superduty.
5 MPH off, you could check it on it Test it with GPS if you have or borrow a friend) or have dealer to double check your speedometer unless if you changed/upgrade tires height and gear.
The Speedometer will never dead on MPH, in fact most of vehical is within 1-2% off which is acceptable.
i just learned something new a few week ago when i found out after i used my GPS unit and it showed me that my truck is 2 MPH slower than what gauge read..
I have a Superchip tuner and i kind of messed with it (tire height) to get it correct speedometer then gave up and posted in here and was advised me to set it "stock" gear and tire height so i did it.
I just got "Scangauge' (awesome!) and it shows me that its 2MPH off so i deiceded not to be such a picky.
Do search under my user name YOMAN and you ll read some good info about MPH that has been a bit off.
My other concern is, the faster the spedometer say's you're going--the faster you put on the mileage. I think I'll have the dealer check this out, I just don't want them messing anything else up if this problem needs fixing. I'm worried about that trickle down effect, one thing goes wrong...then another...then another.
