Replacing AMP meter with VOLT meter

Help. I want to replace my amp meter with a volt meter. However the amp meter has 2 leads and the volt meter has one lead. Do I take both of the amp meter leads and connect them together to the volt meter, or what???

Don't mess with the factory ammeter connections. It's all special and works with a shunt out in the harness. If you don't want to use it, just tape the wires up good.

Your voltmeter guage should have instructions. It should have a + terminal, and a - terminal. If it only has one, is the - terminal the housing? Before I mounted the new voltmeter, I would take and hook it to a small battery charger to see how it reads. You could use some short wires and hook it to the battery to test it, but be careful, there is no circuit breaker on the battery like there is in the battery charger.

Once you figure out how to make it read, then hook the - to a piece of metal under the dash, and the + to a hot wire that has 12 volts only when the key is in run. It can be any ign on wire, including one of the radio wires.
