The TFI on my 84 was nothing but a nightmare ever since we have owned that truck. Best mod I ever did was going to a Duraspark 2.

Oscar,
My engine has a hard time heating up with this stock manifold using the exhaust heat cowl. In the winter it is a problem. You have to wait a good 20 or 30 minutes for it to heat up so it wont cut out. That is why I am interested in a better heating intake and I am trying to visualize how this clifford heated mainfold works. I checked the Clifford website and the manifolds listed do not indicate whether they are heated. Do you have a part # for the one you used? I am assuming you are using the 2v (2 bbl).
I think the reason for the lack of heating is this split manifold design, a real blunder in my opinion. Is this Clifford A split design or is it all one peice, (Intake and exhaust?) How does it heat the intake any better than the stock manifold?

The Clifford design circulates heated water thru the body of the manifold to heat the entire intake including the carb.

The clifford is not a dual plane manifold it is a single plane (Open plenum) The clifford # has a 'H' at the end for heated.

Clifford also has the heated carb bases I mentioned above.

All of the manifolds you'll find for the 300 will be split design. The factory design is split. if you have a problem with heating on the factory set-up check your heat riser control in the top of the exhaust manifold connection to the bottom of the intake manifold. You may want to invest in a Chiltons or Haynes repair manual for better descriptions of these parts and repair.
