scmt shifting question

hey all
i have a banks set up and am thinking of switching over to the scmt. the banks has plenty of power but the transmission is soft and squishy feeling and still feels like theres slipping going on...very hard to tell when i have nothing to compare it to. if anyone can help describe the difference in tranny performance, that would help alot. i'm not sure if the 2005 program is out yet but any info would be grestly appreciated.

I will make my comments on this and leave everyone else to thier own peace...

My truck has seen the SCMT 1704, the Edge Juice/Attitude, the Quad 125, the Predator, and an SCT custom dyno (not your normal off the shelf stuff, most people wouldn't be interested).

Out of all of them (excluding the SCT, which I won't count in this) the SCMT is by far the best shifting of ALL that I have seen. The line pressure is high, the shifts are short, crisp, and NON-defueled (which is more than can be said for the Predator and Edge box) and will absolutely not harm the transmission.
The Edge box barely shifts at all, and same with the Quadzilla. The Predator shifts "ok" but it is not a smooth shift by any means- IMO, it is rough, ill-timed, and too de-fueled for my taste.

Overall, I think the SCMT is the best off-the-shelf unit out there. The power is smooth, the shifting is crisp, and UNLIKE everything else I have tried, the pedal map is not changed (resulting in the feeling of more power, when none is really present- only makes for a jerky pedal.) I would put my money on the fact, that if identical trucks were lined up side-by-side with the different boxes and tuners, the SCMT-tuned truck's powertrain would far outlive the rest.

I have heard some decent things about the Banks setup, but with a total lack of transmission tuning I do question the reliability of the transmission, just as with the Edge box. I know how an untuned transmission feels with excess torque- if you want a comparison of shifting between the two, all I can say is...night and day.

I'm not sure if one word could properly compare the SCMT to the rest of the "tuning world", but if I had to venture to guess, I would say *refined*. The SCMT is truly a highly refined tune, and you WILL be happy with it if you get it, I am positive.

Give Motorhaven a call, you won't regret it.

PS- Take a wild guess where the base code for the transmission came from on the custom tune I am running now

Although I haven't compared any of the other tuners, the shifting of the SCMT is great. I like having a crisp, clean break between "gears" and that is exactly what I get with the SCMT. It reminds me of the B&M shift kits we used to install back when.

On the other question, I don't think the 05 tune is out yet. Check the Superchips link above for that answer.
