got a call from the mechanic at the end of the day today. looks like my slave cylinder and clutch have gone (so he says).
also, he looked at the trans and saind some "pins" had seaized up in it so he was lubing them and letting them sit overnight instead of just yanking them right out.
If your able to do the work yourself then it would save you alot of money. I changed the clutch and slave cylinder in my 95 F150 a year ago. The slave cylinder was leaking thats the reason I changed it. I put a new clutch in while I had the trans out. It cost me about $130 for a cluch and $40 for the slave cylinder. It took me about 8 hours to do.
over the past 3 days, it was having a hard time getting into 1st and 2nd. then yesterday morning it wouldn't go into any gear. just a loud grinding noise. the first day i had to pump the clutch to get it to go into 1st but after driving around awhile it would go into first no prob. but yesterday pumping it wouldn't help it at all.
also it's been about 5 degrees the past couple of nights.
nevermind. it wasn't some pins that seized it was the f'n flywheel. the slave cylinder busted, fluid everywhere. flywheel is stuck. i'm paying out the a**!!
Did this mechanic say what the flywheel is stuck to? It only bolts to the back of the crankshaft with 6 bolts. It shouldn't be stuck at all. My slave cylinder started leaking fluid as well, but that should be a reason for the flywheel to be stuck. Something doesn't sound right to me. If it was me I would get a second opinion on this. Fred
