Howdy everyone, I am new to this website. Last night I bought a fully loaded 05 Lariat Supercab 4x4 with the 5.4 v8. It is 2-toned, dark stone and tan. I discovered this site afterwards and noticed a lot of complaints about vibrations but mostly in the 04 posts. Did Ford fix this problem for the 05s? Is there anything I should be concerned about? This morning I am reading all of the posts concerning exhausts, intakes and reprogramming/computer chips. I would like to increase the fuel mileage if possible if the cost is worth it. Thanks for all the great posts. -Jerry
I'm about to pull the trigger on an 05 lariat screw myself, but after reading everything on the nibbling and vibrations I'm a little leery.
I'm hoping everything's been addressed in production.
My '04 F150 FX4 is vibration free with 8800 miles on it now. I haven't had any problems with my truck from the beginning. It has been a great truck. I like it alot better than the '99 F150 that I had. Good luck with your's and enjoy for many year's.
It was raining the day I picked up my new truck so today was the first day that I really got to look at it. So far the only gripe I have is that there is no light under the hood. Why would they stop putting a light there?I noticed on some of the other posts people mentioned that their truck came with cheap tires. BF Goodrich came on mine which I thought was a good brand. I plan on getting a shell so I can give my dogs a ride in the back. What is a good brand?
Goodrich is OK, read the reviews on tire rack. I have had the Michelins and the Goodrichs on my truck. The Michelins might handle better, the Goodrichs ride maybe a little softer. My wife swears she can't tell the difference.
They are both fine tires.
If you are into super fast running, offroading, or taking corners too fast, you might try some performance tires. If you seldom go over 80, know how to take a corner without scrubbing the sidewall, and mostly stay on pavement, the tires are fine.
These guys who complain are enthusiasts. The best is never enough.
Notice that if you don't spend at least 1500 on your rims/tires many of the members call them junk. It's worse on the stereo gear. Hey, that's just the way guys show they have bigger... Err better make that wallets.
Enjoy your new truck,
Chris
The FX4's with 17" wheels come with Generals, the FX4 with 18" wheels and standard tires comes with BFG's, the FX4 with 18" wheels and upgraded tires comes with Goodyears.
