Hi, is there any way to install an I POD in 2005 F-350 with factory 6 disk? I do have steering wheel controls for radio if that matters. There is an aux button but no idea how to make it work. Thanks for any info. Jim
I've been doing a ton of research on this topic in preparation for delivery of my F350. A company called DENSION makes a cradle that connects via the aux input on the ford radio. It supposedly supports the use of the steering wheel radio controls to manipulate the ipod.
If you dont care about controlling it on the head unit, or steering wheel then you can get an FM transmitter. on www.ipod.com they have 2 different types. This is just the transmitter, and it costs $35. This is just the charger. $20 This one also transmits, it also charges it at the same time. I dont know what apple charges, but ive seen them for $70.
I'm still trying to figure how to get the iPod connected to the factory stereo myself. The first link below is for an adaptor of sorts that is supposed to connect to an aux port or something like that. The 2nd link shows a diagram. Does anyone know their way around the factory stereo for an 03 F150 CD 6 disc stereo??
At this point I have not successfully found any interface for the 2005 factory 6 disc stereo found in my F350. I've tried the Peripheral iPod2Car, which only supports the 2004-1998 models. I've looked at the Dension and Monster products, none of which work with the Ford 2005 system.
With CES this weekend, hopefully something will be announced that will work. I'm trying to contact Pioneer directly (they made the OEM head for Ford)and my be able to get a pinout for the 10 pin molex connector on the back of that thing.

Just picked my '05 F350 up today, and was disappointed when I tore the dash apart & there were not standard RCA inputs for the AUX input. Guess I should have known better... Help us out Creech!
Anybody else? Any ideas about how to find out what Ford or Pioneer has to say about the plug on the back of the head unit? It looks like there are the same two plugs on the end opposite the antenna input (except now both have wiring connected), and now there is a third input near the antenna. Hopefully they have something on the way that allows for a simple connection...
There is a company called autotoys.com that makes AUX input adapters for this type of application. I emailed them and got a somewhat favorable response (see below). Their other adapters allow for THREE RCA Aux inputs, so I guess I'll be waiting !!!

</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE><HR style="COLOR: #666666" SIZE=1>I am looking for an Auxiliary Input for a Ford OEM Radio with Indash 6-disc changer (2005 F-350 Truck). The radio has an AUX button on it and the instructions state that it can be linked to a Ford FES/DVD device. Do you have a product that will allow me to us this as an Aux Input for RCA in ? Thanks,
I still hate engineers for reinventing the wheel with there Radios. They go out of thier way to make it hard to add anything unless it's from the dealer!
Not like they have to pay someone a fee for RCA inputs and outputs! The patent ran out years ago.
I've been using an iPod for several years and just went through tryng to make the Neo Ion work in my 05 Escape 6-CD changer. It didn't work, so I bought a slightly used OEM single CD head unit on Ebay to replace it. I can get the iPod signal through the system now, but the head unit controls don't affect the iPod, so I'm still working on that. From what i can tell, no one has solved the problems with the 6-CD units yet.
Prior to my Escape, I had a '98 taurus with a cassette. Using a cassette insert type connector will definitely give you a stronger signal through the system than an FM transmitter, but be careful to keep the wire from getting caught in the cassette player spindles. There's a new unit out from Griffin called the Smart Deck that plugs in like a cassette AND supposedly provides the head unit controls: http://www.griffintechnology.com/.
