I have a 96 XL with a 5.0 302 and an E40D auto with manual 4x4 and hubs. Everything is stock except the exhaust which is Flowmaster Series 50 Duals. I want some cheap upgrades like chips or something like that which won't drain my account. I am Active Duty Air Force so my budget is not so big.
Forgive the ignorance but what are un derpulleys and where do they go?
They are different ratio pulleys that replace some of your existing units. They are said to decrease drag on the motor, which frees up power. It is well documented that on trucks, you run into cooling and charging issues.
im looking at underdrive pulleys.. What material gives you good power. Aluminum... steel? Will the aluminums bend? Also once you install the new pulleys will the stock belt still fit on?
I Have An Aluminum Set By March. That Was One Of The First Mods I Made.that Coupled With A Good Exhaust And A Good Air Filter Will Give You Some Power And A Little Mileage Increase. I Als Reccomend An Msd Coil And Good Set Of Wires. Don't Bother With A Chip. I Bought One When I Was Mostly Stock And They Only Work At Wide Open Throttle, which Isn't Very Often In A 6000 Lb. Vehicle. After All My Mods I Had A Custom Chip Burnt By A Specialist For The Parts That I Had Changed. Hope This Helps And Good Luck With Your Project..
