I have a 1995 F150 XLT Extended Cab 4X4 with the 5.0L V8 with 5 spd manual transmission. I am looking for some ideas of add ons that will give me the most bang for the buck w/ regard to increased performance.
#1: Cat back exhaust system.
#2: Fram of K&N Air filter
#3: Adjustable fuel pressure regulator. (If you do this, bleed the system prior to
intallation.!!)
Over this level you need to decide what kind of power you're looking for, Horsepower or Torque. For me torque is king. It's what gets the gooseneck w/4 horses and all the gear down the road:
#4: Chip and/or programmable micro tuner.
#5: Cam change
#6: Turbo or Super Charge
#7: Trash all above and make offer on "Big Foot"

Headers and a full exhaust system coupled with a K&N airfilter will help a bit with power, these are good starter mods. The sky is the limit on these trucks.
there are K&N filter mods you can do also.
A good tune up always helps. =)
I went all motorcraft with mine and noticed a big difference in power.
Stay away from fram stuff unless its a little return filter or something.
New PCV valve! those get old and sometimes cause you to loose slight performance/gasmileage
For simplicity.
I'd do the headers and new exhaust. and if your in a state where you can, loose the cat and put some nice flowmasters on there with some duals! Duals sound great on 302's!!
A search under "upgrades" in this forum, or the 302 forum, will pull up some past threads with lots of info, it's a very popular question. Also, try different keywords and you'll get better/different results.
