My buddy has a '94 F-150. He went to shut the hood one day after checking the coolant, and it wouldn't shut. If he was smart he would have stopped there, but he raised it up and slammed it down. Now the hood is half way open, and won't shut nor open at all. It is latched on the first latch, so it stays shut somewhat. I tryed to get it open for the past half hour now, and it won't do anything. Any ideas on how to get it open now? The release in the cab doesn't release anything, so I'm guessing it's something with the other latch. If you try to pull the latch in the grill, it is tight and does not open. I tried beating it with a hammer, but it just slightly bent the opener for the latch a little bit. Hope that's enough info. Please help me out here...I'm clueless. Thanks alot in advance!
Have you tried spraying the entire latch area with WD40 or silicone--mine got stuck once, and the dealer said it had gotten "gummed up"--charged me half an hour labour to get it unstuck.
the first latch is the secondary safety latch. it is jambed as you said. try pushing down on the hood and then try pulling on the safety latch. of coarse in your case you will probably need more force than just simply pushing down. mine is a little stuborn and i allways have to push down on the hood a little
Not sure if you got it fixed or not but the same thing happened to me first day i got mine. When the hood is open and you accidently hit the mechanism and latch it, make sure to go in the cab and hit the release before you close the hood. If you dont and close the hood thats what will happen, not close all the way and you cant move it. I had my mechanic (retired from ford) come over and he had to get up under it with some extension and take it all apart from the inside. good luck

That's about what happened. My buddy hit the latch, then slammed the hood and got it all messed up. After about an hour and a half I managed to hit something just right and pop the hood. At that point I had realized what he did. He was pretty happy to have his hood working again, tho he was somewhat looking forward to having to install hood pins. Guess I screwed him out of that idea.
