> Hi guys –
I just replaced the tires on my 05 Ranger fx4 off-road with BFG LT255/70R16s – I put the Goodyear RT/S stock tires in storage -
The dealer put 36PSI in the front and 30 PSI in the back. These tires will take a max of about 65 PSI –
The sticker on the door says I should inflate the tires to 30 PSI for P255/70R16 tires.
Questions – What is the difference between “LT” and “P” tires?
For the BFG’s – what is a good PSI for tread ware, comfort, and mileage?
I drive about 75% on pavement – 25% off pavement (dirt /snow) - I don't pull anything.

The pressure marked on your door is the place to start. If you regularly carry heavy loads you may want to adjust. The markings on the tire are only for MAX levels at MAX load. It should also say MAX load ~1500lbs (or something like that)
Example - For instance a tire with a MAX load of 1500lbs & MAX psi of 65 will have the same "contact patch" at MAX load and MAX psi as it would at 850lbs and 32.5psi.
