Hi all, Im new to the forums and new to the expedition. i used to be into imports for the last 6 yrs but recently decided to get an suv and the expedition was what i wanted after i test drove one. picked up a '99 xlt with alot of extras.
Well anyway, onto the problem. my guages used to act different upon startup. they would come on and go all the way to the right, then back down to 0, then up to wherever they would be. now over the weekend here in ohio, we had real bad snow(12+ inches) and subzero weather. it killed my battery which was the original in the car so i went to advance auto parts and got a new titanium battery with a 84 month warranty and 3yr replacement. now when i came out this morning to start my car since i have to leave it outside since my driveway is screwed up, the guages didnt act like they normally did since ive had the car. now, they look as if they try to go all the way to the right, but they stop and go directly to where they should be sitting. the RPM guage goes straight to where its idling, instead of all the way to the end, then back down to 0rpm, then up to where it idles.
Is this normal??? should it jump around first then go to where its supposed to go or is it supposed to go straight to where it should be?? help me out guys
The reason that they jumped all over the dial in the first place was that your battery was on its way out. Common symptom of a dying battery on this generation Expedition. Now that the battery has been replaced, the current behavior you describe is normal.
