you might check a few things actually, Maybe you have a clogged fuel filter? It could be something with Fuel injection, maybe it's the tps switch or something.
You probably have this repaired by now but you didn't indicate the year/model of your vehicle. Once my '86 Bronco quit cold on the interstate. I looked under the hood and the coil wire had come out of the coil. Plugged it back in and off I went. Make sure everything is good and tight.
Try this one out, it might solve your prob...
The bulkhead connector in the firewall-interior
area that has the routing for the main body harness might have a bent pin, corrosion, or the pins might have fell out of alignmeent. Take the harmess/connector apart, view each pin with a magnifying glass and see if its properly positioned. Also, check the coil and related wiring, the ignition switch too. I had a 69 ford country sqire with this saame prob, the bulkhead connector was the culprit---bent pins that made

I have a 1988 Ranger 2.9 L. I was driving down the road and the engine just cut off. I waited a few minutes, it would crank back up and I would drive a little farther an it would cut off again. The problem was a bad electronic control module. Its located on the side of the distributor. Check with parts store they will know what it is. Also it requires a special little tool (cost about 5 bucks) to install, makes it real easy. I replaced it and it no longer cuts off. Try other suggestions first, then check this one out!! The part was about 65 dollars.
