i have an 1986 B2 4x4
my friend who sold me my bronco had the AC working and my dad tried the heater when he parked it in the garage (his house, he gets to risk taking out the garage wall lol). my friend said it worked perfectly when he tried it. now, I dont exactly know when my dad turned the fan on, but i saw white smoke comming out of the hood by windsheild, told him to pop the hood and it was comming out between the air filter and side of the truck (there are some wires and crap there on side). it did work for him but since then, the fan hasn't worked. i checked the fuse in the fuse panel and it's fine. and i know the switch has power because when i turn on/off lights my amp makes a sound (only if it and the stereo are on) well, when i turn the fan on or change speed, the amp makes a sound.
can anyone tell me why the fan wont blow, it's to cold to finish the wiring of accessories and i need my heater. (and no, it stopped working before I did any wire changes so dont blame me, i havent touched it's wiring... [yet?] )
dose anyone know the approximate cost of a blower motor and possibly the gasket for a 1986 b2 4x4.. CDN$ prefered, but anything will do, just as long as you specify what currency
With the white smoke, does that mean electrical? I had white smoke billowing out under my dash, because something got shorted, the fuse should've blown but didn't and melted the fuse plastic onto my leg, and melted part of the fuse box. Ouch.. anyways, your amp shouldn't be making noise even if this is happening.
The wiring at the resistor connection is known for problems, I would take a good look there. Sorry, can't help with the cost.
where exactly would i find the resistor connection, ive tried tracing the wires but they go into one of those wire cover things and disappear. is it one of those little black boxes mounted on the side?
and in regards to RomerB2, the amp or stereo (don't know which is behind it) is sensitive i guess, I just installed a noise filter for that.
im an electrician (non-specific and non-licensed) and i ran all the wires for the amp myself and i know there all good. but hey, they invented the noise filter for a reason, and that fixed up a lot of it. the noises when you turn on a light etc arn't loud so i don't care, as long as you have it loud and proud you'll never notice. the worse part (squealing when engine running) is gone, thats what matters most.
but then again, a previous owner did butcher a few of the wires, but i checked it out and they shouldn't affect anything
I was just saying there's a reason for the noise, maybe alternator related, or lines are merely running too close to each other. It's not hurting anything so I wouldn't bother with it. Just making talk lol.
true, and as for the alternator, that would be the cause of the squealing whice the noise filter removed perfectly. as for lines running to close, they all tangle in one giant ball behind the stereo lol.. but i did run the input and power lines for the amp together (up passenger side of windsheild, across door, in a hole in frame just above top of seatbelt and down that post comming out of a panel by floor beside rear seat, then under bottom of seat to the amp which is screwed to the back. not to mention that i ran a second power line for the neon lights on my speakers but that isnt wired in yet, im trying to find a blue illuminated toggle switch (need blue to match theme) and i can only find amber, red, and green.
There's your problem, you ran the input and power lines together. The current that travels through the power lines, radiates a little, and gets into your inputs. And another problem is your ball of lines lol. If I were you I would take out the HU and sort lines, like speakers together, then power lines together, get them at least straightened.
there as neat as automotively possible lol, it's a small space and everything seems to run through there. there is'nt much i can do except waste another roll of electrical tape which would only complicate things when i upgrade to a CD player cus tapes are way outdated. and I didn't have much of a choice on where to put the amp wires, im lazy and they all had to go on that side. also considering the the fact that the floors are prone to rusting out, i wasn't putting any wires there. but like i said, the only sounds left after installing the noise filter arn't a problem, there not loud enough 2 really notice.
