Steering Column Removal

My tilt wheel was worn out and I think I have acquired a suitable replacement via ebay. I almost have the old one out but the linkages to the steering box and transmission do not seem to want to play (come off). I don't want to break anything, does anyone have any pointers? THolleyH46@aol.com
