I got the ball joint in and it only took me about a half hour to finish up everything, minus cleaning the tools. Now I have a new problem... When I get on the brakes hard the truck pulls to the left. Never did this before I did the work on the front end. The truck drives the same, so I know the alignment is fine. I did do one thing different though... When I took off the caliper and pads I noticed the shims on the back of the pads were starting to come off so I tore them off and sprayed them with brake quiet... I, however, didn't do the same to the other side. Could this cause it to pull when braking pretty hard? Thanks,
-Phil
Sounds to me like the caliper is hanging up and not appling (since you had to push the piston back) or you have a brake line thats getting closed off on the right side. This
is usually caused by rust forming under the clamp that positions the line so it doesn't get
damaged by rubbing against something.
Thanks guys, When I got done typing this post I went back out in the garage and took the shims off the other side, sprayed the pads with brake quiet and then re-lubed the pad guides and the problem was gone.
Thanks so much for the help once again, I appreciate your input,
-Phil
