my 99 F-150 had a plug in under the dash to plug in my trailer brake module.. My F-350 doesn't have the same plug in. my dealer tells me to go to U-Haul and have it wired in...any suggestions would be greatly appreciated......Roland
what year is your f 350? my trucks plug was to the far right of the fuse panel.(the one under the steering wheel.) behind one of the dash supports and a pain the butt to plug the brake controller into. i think it was light grey but could be wrong, its been a while.
Yeah, Ford likes to tape that connector as high and out of sight as possible. Like 04SD said, if it's there it will be grey and have 6 pins (3 over 3) with 5 wires going to it (1 will be dark blue). Good luck - hope it's there!

I don't know who you spoke to at the dealership but you need to RUN as fast as you can from them !! It doesn't sound like they know the product they sell or want to help/keep a customer . The first thing they should have done is to show you how to find the plug and shown a little customer service ! I can't believe they told you to " go to U Haul" !!
If you do not have the harness under the vehicle in the back, do not splice another one in! Go the the Ford dealer, order the correct cable for the towing package, drop your spare tire, and the connector will plug in on the left frame rail in the rear and come with the harness for the rear lamps too.
I agree with everyone, the connector is there, but, tucked up high.

Would you believe that they have the nerve to advertise themselves as "Truck Land USA" I talked to the 'head' service writer, he told me that they don't wire up the controllers because of the 'liability' I wonder what else they are misinformed about. Makes me think twice about letting them touch my truck....Thanks....Roiland....

wiring up a controller is easy, installing it is a pain. there is a harness specific to your rtuck and you need to spice it to your brake controller. make sure to see what each wire does. you dont always hook the red to red, blue to blue etc. it all depends on the controller you have.
if you have your controller already you need the pig tail end for your truck.
pn 2C3T 15A416 AE that is the part # i got of the bag mine came in. for some reason my truck came with two pig tails. go figure.
If the truck came with a tow package it has the plug. Most all Ford trucks after 1994 with a tow pack all have the controler plug. If the truck has a factory plug in for tow wires at rear you have the controller plug. If not you'll need wires and lots of other up grades to tow properly
First let me say thank you to all who took the time to help me.......... and , yes, i did find the plug, WAY in the back, almost against the firewall, next to the radio, actually clipped to the frame that holds the radio. Now, are all brake controls universal, or do I need one specific for Ford......... Thanks,...Ro
You need to buy a controller that is compatible with the # of trailer brakes (1/2/3 axles). My latest controller is a Tekonsha Prodigy, and it's the best I've ever used; a lot of people here will second that. Stay away from time-actuated controllers; they're cheap for a reason. Whichever controller you buy, get the harness that plugs into the controller and your under-dash connector; no wiring hassles!
What steina said ! You will get a wire harness with the brake controler that will plug into the one under the dash and connect to the controler , The brake controlers are ( more or less ) universal and they will supply a harness to hook it up to the truck . Glad to hear ya found it ! Just follow the directions that come with the controler and mount it in a convenient place and adjust it for level and braking power you're good to go . Tekonsha also has a web site so you can check them out or trouble shoot something .
