Aprox 1 month ago I replcaed both batteries on my 99 f250 psd not sure what killed them theywere orig. I did notice that the bells that ring if you've left your lights on or key in the ignition were ringing with the truck turned off and no key in ignition. I was told that one of the batteries had gone bad and took the other one with it, so I replaced both. problem solved NOT!! no one month or so later on Christmas day both batteries drained so lowthat the interior light wouldn't light. am in the process of charging the batteries. What do I look for I did notice that when I hooked up the charger and put it on Boost the heater fan motor started running with out the key in the ignition What gives?
Sorry for the long post. Well Merry Christmas anyway, Thanks DD
Sounds like you got something hooked up wrong on your batteries, or something is direct connected to the batteries that isn't suppose to be, if things are coming on when the ignition is off and the key is out. That is what would be draining your batteries. Check all your connections and make sure everything is correct.
Sounds like maybe the ignition switch is defective. Try this sight ( Dieselman.com )
This guy knows everything there is to know about psd's. Good luck!!!
Ignition switch may be a problem. On mine, it's so worn out that the warning bells sound with or without the key in place. In fact, if I pull the key out while the switch isn't in exactly the right spot, I can start the truck w/o the key! Now, I pull the key, then rock the switch until the bells stop.
Made an appointment with the dealer today. Now I notice that the heater is not working right everything is being directed to the defroster and now the blower does not come on unless the switch is turned on. Damb Gremlins
