Hello this is like my third post I think. Great site to learn about the trucks we all love. Any way I just purchased a 2003 350 cc dually with 6 OH. I love it. My previous truck was a 2000 supercab f250 7.3 with a sc microtuner on level 3. Great storry for everyone here. Onctober 1 Friday night 2004 My old boss and I were arguing about each others trucks about who has more power. He has a 2000 dodge cummins extended cab. So being the trucks are the same configuration, and we were at his shop and after several Bee weisers to make you feel invinsable, we decided to have a pulloff. Hitch to Hitch with a big chane seperating us about 7 feet apart. We were both in 4 wheel drive, however it took me 3 tries to get my truck not to smoke all 4 wheels. The bad thing was that I was in the performance setting of the chip, no egt, or tranny guage. Not intelligent - I know. On the third attempt I sprung a tranny leak from the front seal. Tranny and engine -very hot!!!!!. So I figured I would be pulling the tranny the next day to repair, right? nope I got stupid, I said 1 more time I almost had you. He gladly said ok. This time I put it 4h and kept it in 1st. I dragged him 25 feet while he was going sideways spinning all 4 wheels and occasionally hopping. Then my truck wasnt moving anymore ,and my tires werent spinning, then I looked at the tach and saw go from 1800 floored to redline instantly as I let off and got dragged back. at that time under the hood errupted in flames. Because of the bee-weisers I thought it was sooo cool. End result was after 3 months of fighting with insurance co. and 2 fire inspectors to determine cause and origin of fire- I guess they suspected that I lit it up. Im finally driving my new cool 03 used but I love. Lesson for everyone is if your truck goes up in flames DO NOT PUT IT OUT. It worse to deal with insurance and a slightly burned truck rather than a no question -were not fixing it.
are you for real dude?.. if so your a friggin Idiot and ill be the first to call you out.......im just stunned here... stunned... ive been on this forum a long time and never read anything quite as intelligent as the level you and your buddy take it to........... I hope you go as quick as you came....... one pointer though... If you want to win a chain(correct spelling) pull.. you lock your brakes to hold position while the OTHER guy starts to burnout, soon as his tires start spinning you pull him very slowly in the lowest gear you got, without breaking your tires loose.... no amount of power could of won with your driving skills behind the wheel...... I however would not be caught dead playing "tug of war"... its a game for idiots......, Well it floats your boat..what can i say....yeah... great Ford Promo.
Jetjock16.
Actually the first pull I had my brakes locked and he just pulled me back. The brakes had no effect. The second pull I tried it in 4 low and spun all 4 weels as he pulled me back again. Third pull was in 4h and shifter was in second. Again its was no good. That time it sprung a leak. The final pull worked. Yes Im for real and it was the most stupid thing I have done. Learned a very expensive lesson being my truck would have been paid off in 1 year. But at the time it was fun. No regrets I love my new truck.
No rematch although I have a dually now. Probably would win on the first pull. My old lady was upset because we WERE going to get engaged. Instead I got a truck.
I left the part out about how the fire actually started. the tranny built up so much pressure that it blew the dipstick out of the tube with fluid. The fluid hit the turbo/exhaust and that how it ignited.
Easy JetJock the world needs these guys, keeps sales up, I hope his insurance agent follows his very public admission of fraud.
To tell the truth, we have a lot of these yo yos down here. I doubt there is a county road without the evedince of such poor judgement and lunacy. On the other hand they aren't liable to be zooming down the narrow lane side by side refusing to give before the first 15mph 90 degree off camber left turn!
Brings to mind another stupidity I see at some biker parties I go to. Confounds the hell out of me to see grown men take a $25,000 motorcycle and smoke the hell out of the motor while trying to get the rear tire to blow up. All for the enthralled ammusment of the drunken onlookers... no prize or nuthin! Totaly trips me out to see the numbskulls the next day all hung over inspecting his trashed ride. On the up side, Metzler or Avon gets another couple of hundred for new rubber. Truley amazing how capotilism gains from idiots.
Yeti,I have to agree with you I love to watch the liquid courage do its magic.
I love to watch them tear there trucks up on the beach then they want help off the beach. PAY TIME!!! My favorite is some one trying to pull some one out and never ask if why he is not in 4 wd or lowered his tire pressure.
Hook that dually up to a tree, see if you can de root it!!
Hmmm....Maybe I shouldn't admit this, but I have de-rooted some small trees with my old '86 F-150 and its 3.55 gear and grand-ma tranny! That was a pretty long time ago, however. No way would I ever try something like that in this, the "adult" portion of my life.........
Check out some of the videos on www.superdutyheadquarters.com same thing you are describing only they are advertising products and probably not drinking. What a great story and nothing to show for it! I wouldn't tell many more people about that butt woopin the cummins gave you! I hope your insurance agent isn't reading.
I will admit that I like to watch stupid people tear stuff up as much as the next guy but what is it with truck drivers either half ton or Heavy duty's wanting to have pulling contests????? I have had SD's since I bought my V10 in 2001 and have been challenged to these displays of stupidity more times than I can count. Even if you are willing to trash your truck or your opponents who wants to put that kind of power pulling on a CHAIN?? I mean at least if you are going to do this invest in some real straps so that when they break you don't kill your drunk buddies that are watching you.
I will admit that I gave into one of these idiots when my 02 CC 7.3L 4x4 was pretty new. The guy was my neighbor and harassed me daily about his Z71 whooping my ford. After several weeks I agreed to "hook em up" as he called it. I did all the strappping and doubled up on everything to make sure. no straps hooked around and back to themselves and all that. and I then covered it all with heavy blankets at the connections that I use when I am wheeling and pull someone out. We all know I would win against a halfton Z71 but I wanted to prove a point to this moron and waited to let of my brakes till all four of his tires got traction. I then yanked the crap out of his truck and broke both his drive shafts and his rear axel. It may not have been the most mature decision I made but at least the moron never asked me to do it again!
