The 60's Batmobile was an early T-bird design change concept. The producers of the show saw one and thought it looked just good enough to be the Batmobile. The rest is history. The new one should be the new Shelby Cobra.

Now I know where the designers of the Aztek got jobs after GM fired them.

BTW...the first Batmobile was the Lincoln Futura...a mid-fifties 'dream car'. I believe George Barris bought it from Ford, modified it, then pulled a mold from it to make the cars necessary for the movie. I sware I saw fiberglass bodies from that mold for sale in some magazine not that long ago.

That has to be by FAR the WORST design of a batmobile I have ever seen. It looks like a bunch of recycled cans glued together. That's horrible. It looks nothing like the "batmobile" is most of the other Batman movies in the past.

Looks like something from the defunct show, "Junkyard Wars".

The Batmobile I saw in Gatlinburg was a 63 or 64 Ford. It had the center console with the floor shifter and the old green dot cruise-o-matic. It also had the bucket seats like were in the 64 Galaxy XL, or maybe the T-bird.

At least the man who ran the museum said it was a 63 or 64, and I believe he said T-bird. It has been a few years since I saw it.

Good article. The one I saw must have been a copy for the public to see. It looked real enough, but I can see where the original came from by the Futura pictures.
