Microtuner & superchips

How much does the average microtuner or superchip actually do for your truck? I've been thinking about gettin one for mine but i dont know all that much about them. What kind of gains are about average and MPG gain/loss. Anyone have one on a 97 f150? Are they worth it?

8-10% HP increase. Many people pick up 1-2 mpg, but that's with the premium fuel tune.

I purchased one from Motorhaven, and I do not regret it one bit! The switch from stock to the premium tune is great. Not only does my truck run better, it pulls harder, shifts better, and I gained 1mpg on my 2004 5.4. My father had similar results, but he managed to wring 2mpg out of his V10. I give it two thumbs up.

What is required for install, would you guys recommend professional installation? And what do prices run for the average superchip.

You just have to plug the unit into the OBD port under your dash (or under your hood I think on some vehicles), and start pressing buttons. It takes all of 5 seconds to install it. The best price I found on the net was at our very own FTE store, www.motorhaven.com
