I had a blow out on the road and to make a long story short the tire chewed up the left inner fender well and the wires that sit on top on it . I called a dealer and they said they don’t make the engine wiring harnesses any more no luck at finding one at the local bone yard as they just cut them .I looked on Ebay and saw one for a 4.9 liter with the pcm .I think mine is dead the pcm I mean . I also saw ones for a 4.6 mustang .Does any one know if I could make these work some how most of the damage is right before the fuse box that sits on the wheel well . I tried to match all the wires together and I replaced all the blown fuses it just cranks over and beeps 55 when the key is on . I can smell gas so it must be a bad wire . all I want is the thing to start and go. The truck is a 94 Ford F150 2wd auto
Any thoughts would be Helpfull
Good bone yards don't cut wiring harnesses as they can sometimes get big money for them from insurance companies etc. I'd try a different yard or get the one you went to to check with other yards to see if they can get you one.
I got rid of that code beep 55 I found 2 wires that were the same color just slightly different color stripe.theres 4 wires that I can't match up 2 from the fuse box coming out of the cab and 2 from the pcm.The others are twisted with electical tape .To try get each one exactly correct right amount of current and solddering would take countless hours. I still can't believe they discontinued making the harness .All the major yards close by don't keep them.I saw a yard one on the internet thats in tenn. and all they had were the 4.9s 1 5.0 but it was cut of course .I found one on Ebay from a f350 it looks close really hard to tell from a photo though .Monday I am calling every yard one has to have one.
I got the wiring harness from carpart.com installed it and still no start I checked the computer for codes by jumping the wires ,This is where it gets weird the service engine soon light didn't blink the codes the seat belt light did there was only one 51 I hooked a mutimeter up and it was 51 .I am thinking the computer is bad so I ordered another one used 125.00 for the entire harness and only one bad connecter 85.00 for the ECM. Has anyone ever heard of a code coming through the seat belt light ?
