I am gettin ready to buy tags (on you birthday month in Georgia) and ran across the invoice for my truck. On March 31, 1994 she sold for $24,885.08. To replace her today with an apples to apples truck would cost in the neighborhood of $53,550.04 (at least if you look at the door sticker on the dealer lot in my area where she was purchased in the first place). A Chilton's and Haynes, some help from friends at times, nothing major at all, and at 237,500+ and still strong I think I'll keep her. All the best to FTE members, Merry Christmas and a SAFE Happy New Year!!
I agree. The price of new trucks is through the roof. This one has 45K original miles and I plan on keeping it for another 100K before I replace it, maybe more if the prices of new trucks keep going up like they have been....
Yup, my 1994 F-150 is staying with me for a loooooooooooooooooong time. I didn't buy her new, but I'm the second owner. Still running strong with 132,220 miles.
I just checked... The window sticker for my truck shows the MSRP at $16,970. I just went to Ford's website and built a brand new 2005 F-150 just like it... $26,490. Amazing, ain't it?
Wow! You guy's are blowin me away with these prices. I have a buddy with a 94 F150, 302, E40D, 4x4 extended cab with maybe 100,00 that would bend over for 10,000. West coast prices I guess.
Yeah, prices are insane. I just bought a very clean 95 F150 Supercab 4x4 XLT 302 with 91,000 miles on it for $7000. That was at a GMC/Buick dealer even! This truck is loaded to the gills with options and even has a diamond tread tool box on it. I am so tickled. And my payment is 1/5 of a new one, maybe even less!

Yep- a '92-96 4X4 is worth 5 grand out here if the body's relatively straight and it runs- anything better than that, the dollars go up. I just looked at a '96 F350 Reg Cab 4X4 PSD. 60K, all the whistles and bells, stock except for an expensive canopy. Mint- as in, shrink-wrapper new condition. Guy wanted $16K for it, and wouldn't budge an inch Sad thing is, he'll probably get it too.
Don't forget the midwest and gulf-coast guys have to deal with mucho rust- they can barely imagine what a 10 yr old rust-free truck looks like.
(not meaning to hijack the thread) But I agree - the prices for the diesels (even pre-powerstrokes) are insane! You can't find one with less than 150K for under 10,000, its crazy!
Not hijacked, I was talking about all of them. Diesels and gas. I am just a sincere fan of the 92 to 96 body style. I like everything about my truck from exterior look to the interior amenities. What I need I add, simple as that. What's broken, for the most part, I fix. With the help of members here, manuals, and a long history of getting it done myself. Even considering the money difference, and it's more than substantial, I guess my truck will stay with me till it dies. One other little thing. As long as I drive my '94, my customers don't complain about their salesman for frame material driving "that new truck" and he must be making too much on them! Life's a blast enjoy what you have and go after what you want with equal zeal. I started shopping today for another '96 Bronco, nothing new I want in that class.
Make sure your New Year is Happy and SAFE!!

I wish I knew what these trucks road like and felt like when brand new....I've only had my license for a few years. I myself wouldn't buy a new truck, I think these vehicles are great.

Unfortunately...or fortunately, depending on how you look at it, mine's going to my oldest son soon. Problem is, I can't see anything out there at the moment, either in Ford or Brand "X" that appeals to me as much. Good friend went through the same thing after he gave his kid his '94. Wound up buying a really nice '96, and paid all the money for it. After all's said and done, though, it probably wasn't a bad buy.
