Isn't the Air Hog similar to a K&N in that the Air Hog also is oiled?

I pulled the KN from my F150 after reoiling it I was getting poor mileage. I know I overoiled it in fear that underoiling woudl be risky. I am running paper now, but still have KN in Aerostar and Motorhome. Probably will switch to paper when I replace the KNs.

I was always going to eventually switch to a K&N air filter, (#33-2024) Motorcraft #FA-1043 or Fram #CA 5058, in my '87 Aerostar, 3.o V6. However, now I don't think I will. I think with the lifetime filters such as K&N, and Fram's Airhogs, there is a tendency to leave the filter in too long, more often than not. Then, until fuel MPG drops, or performance is sluggish from a dirty air filter, then you might think it's time to clean and reoil the filter. if you are busy, that dirty airfilter might stay in there longer than it should. So, I think I will continue to use Purolator paper air filters, and change them twice a year, usually close to the time change periods in early April, and late october. This keeps the little 3.0V6 breathing clean air. Once a year, I clean the throttle plate as well, with the CRC spray designed just for that purpose.

CRC has a lot of great products. I use their Power Lube (former CRC 5-56) which from the MSDS appears to be about 70% like WD-40 and 30% lubricant. Also use their QD Electronic Contact Cleaner for a wide variety of purposes. The QD leaves no residue. Even gets gummy tape residue off of stuff.

I use a K&n filter and I find it a good filter, I clean mine I think every 7000 miles in the environment which I live in. Don't stick your air hose to close to the filter, soaking the filter helps with a strong soap, a good cleaning is a must and let it dry out before applying a recommended oil, after you applied the oil I like to run my leaf blower close up if I applied to much oil the wind would remove the excess oil, let the filter dry out a bit like a 10 min's in the hot sun before using it.

The reusable high performance filters are not for people that does not know how to properly clean and oil them. When the high performance filters gets dirty like from hwy use the filter gets dark and a light cleaning will not remove the dirty oil.
My inside of the intake after the K&n filter is sneaky clean after 40000 miles of use
