How do I get the headlight bezel off my '92 F-150? I have a sidemarker light out, and need to replace the bulb, but can't for the life of me figure out how to get the thing off. I removed the two screws on the top, but can't get it to budge at all. Of course, I was doing this in the dark, with temps hovering right at zero (always the best time to perform light maintenance on your truck). Anybody want to shed some light (get it?) on this for me? And let me know how to thaw my frozen ears, too.
After those 2 screws, theres 2 bolts in the inside. You might have to move the battery on the passenger side, and on the driver side, you might have to move the coolant tank.
I removed it without moving any of those things. It was a tight squeeze. There was a picture that showed where the bolts are. I'll look for it.
Whew... It's a pain. I have tried this before, as I have bought a set of crystal headlights and a set of clear corners and turn signal lights. I couldn't figure out for the life of me how to get it off...
But, now that I have that tip from 93GreenF150 (Thanks man!), maybe I can get it off since I'm snowed in for the next few days.
Good luck!

Well, couldn't find the picture . Feel around in there. They are in those 'square holes'. The size is 7/16'.
Those crystal headlights are real sharp looking. Removing the actual headlights themsleves is gonna be a pain... I've never done it, but I've read of people having a hard time, since the headlights have some special Clips. But hey, with a lot of cursing and forcing, they WILL come off
Oh yeah, the cursing and forcing always works... Especially when working on something that you don't have to worry about tearing up since it's BUILT FORD TOUGH!!
Are you sure that you can't change the bulb with the assembly still in place? I know that you can with the headlights, since with just a twist, the harness and bulb come out of the housing. I'll check on that and see. If I remember correctly, you can twist the bulb and harness out of the sidemarker assembly, if I ain't going crazy...
Will-do, stevieptcb. I'm going to try and get them in sometime next week. I've got the whole week off and I'll need something to do to pass the time by. lol.
I'll go with stock bulbs at first, but it probably won't be long until I switch them to those SilverStar Halogens... I've heard good things about those.
The Sidemarker lights cannot be changed without removing the assembly unless you have toothpick arms or something. Only the headlight and signal light can be changed without removing the assembly.
SilverStars are good. I had them for a while and were real nice. I switched to APC's Plasma White which I like more. I'm about to do the 'Whiter Whites, Brighter Brights' re-wiring and then get me some EuroLite Bulbs which have a blue look that I am looking for.
Thanks for the help, all. As it turns out, I don't need to do anything to it. As I was monkeying with it the other night - it started working! Hasn't given me any more trouble since, but I'm sure it will eventually.
Thanks again. Have a very merry Christmas, everyone.
Hah i remember that, I feel the pain as well. What i thought at first was such a simple job turned into a nightmare but i figured it all out. First i replaced my grill, bumper and trim around the headlights with new chrome parts, and not even a week ago i installed some crystal headlights from ebay (procarparts . com) and taking the headlight out is harder then getting the trim/corner/marker off. Anyone who is thinkin of puttin in the diamond ones go for it, they look awesome.
Thanks 93GreenF150... I'm going to check into that article!
Sn0wMan; Any good tips? If I don't find something more exciting to do tonight, I might just go down to the warm, toasty garage and install them. (Ha! I'm dreaming!! - )
