Tire Size Converter

I saw a post in one of the Forums about a itre size converter that would show diameters of different tires - converting them from metric to in measurements. Is there one also that will convert the width of the tires? I want to know what size tires to ask for if I want tall skinny tires for my ride.

Here's the way to do it manually.

using a 295 - 70 - 16.

295 = sidewall width at the widest point in milimeters. divide by 24.5 to get inches. = 12.0"

70 = sidewall height in percentage of sidewall width. 295 X .70 is 206.5. divide by 24.5 = 8.38

overall tire height is wheel diameter (16) + (sidewall height X2) or 16 + 16.76 = 32.76

Here's another formual for finding hieght:

Hieght in inches = 2 x SectionWidth x AspectRatio / 2540 + WheelDiameter.

For a 235/85-16 tire, SectionWidth is 235mm, AspectRatio is 85%, and WheelDiameter is 16".

Divide the SectionWidth by 25.4 (not 24.5) to get width in inches
