hey i was wondering if anyone on here has a lighted ford emblem. i saw them a while ago and was thinking about it. i was wondering if anyone has one, or what you guys think of them. and if someone does have one how is the quality, i was looking at someother site for lightnings and they had them on the front and back.
I've been through two of these lighted logos (aka Lumilogo) in the past four years. The adhesive that holds the clear center part does not seem to last very long. On the first one, the clear center section fell off, exposing the electroluminescent membrane. On the second one, moisture entered around the center section and ruined the membrane. In both cases, failure happened within two years. I wound up just putting the stock emblem back on.
However, I must say that the lighted logos were really cool and unique when they worked. I've received several compliments when I had them. If you don't mind the expense of changing them around every other year, then go for it. They run between $30-40. Check eBay.
I was wondering if they were legal up front because it does light up the blue from the ones that I've seen and they frown on blue lights up front, reserved for emergency use only, but I was only wondering.
I love the lighted emblems as well as everybody else that sees them. My wife doesn't like or understand the attention that they recieve"must be a guy thing" she says. I have a huge smile on my face watching everybody look and point to it almost everywhere you go. The only problem is that they do not last. My brother and I have both gone through 2 a piece. The last one I had I did try to seal with silicone and it still didn't last. You'll be lucky if you get more than a year out of one. I guess this is why so many people haven't seen them. They'd be more popular if they lasted.
NJ state motor vehicle tried to fail me for it this year, until I popped the hood and said"I'll fix that" and continued to rip the wires out from under it with my bare hands without th. The guy new I was ****ed and his jaw dropped to the ground. They claim no lights are permitted on the front of a vehicle other than amber or white/clear unless you have a permit.
I will put one on my '05 when I get it in april. I plan to put it on one of the upfitter switches!
