I'm a new owner of a '01 Ex Limited 2wd V-10. I'm loving it so far, I've been looking for the "right" one for a couple of years now but anyway.....
When I first test drove the Ex, I noticed an extremely light rattle or clunking as I would go over large or even small bumps. I told the salesman that it would have to be fixed before I bought it. I ended up taking one of the techs for a ride and we could only hear it on the driver's side and you had to be driving it to really hear it. Anyway, we got back to the dealership (Ford dealer thank god) and he ran the VIN to find that Ford had issued a TSB on the caliper pins AND brake pads. I'm not sure what the deal was on the pins but the new pads were to have an adhesive to help stick to the caliper so that while you're not braking they would sit tight with caliper instead of moving around.
A couple of hours later the noise was gone and I'm a proud owner . Just thought I'd share the info. as that's what this is forum is all about. I hope I don't "need" technical advice but I hope this forum is around if I do. Thanks!
