my friend has one for his 03 6.0L, I don't care for it... the fit is not as good as some of their other filters( I have 3 other ones). That is what I like about green filter, the fit and finish and the media.
Just put an AFE replacement filter and housing in my dads 05. Its washable and a pretty blue color.
I would not use the "pretty blue" filter from AFE. I only has four layers of
filter media. That is not enough protection for the turbo. Replace it with the
AFE PG 7 if you must use an aftermarket intake. ,EJ

"I only" should read, "It only". A touch of brain fade, I guess. , EJ
The up side is service over the OEM, the down side is people tend to forget and more dirt enters the system from lack of maintaining the wash and oil.
The real downside is that MY dealer said "No intake upgrades"
and given that the gains have not REALLY been backed up by real world test.... (in fact, some have gone back to the stock intake after putting on aftermarket) I'll stay with the stock one - at least on my truck

E mailed aFe and told them about your concern. They told me that for offroad use the 7 would be better but would give up about 10% more airflow. For highway use what my dad will be doing mostly [towing 30ft 5er] she said the blue is the way to go to maximize airflow and make the most power. Also installed SS turbo back exhaust [no cat] and deep sump tranny oil pan.

With a $40,000 truck, I would rather be safe than sorry. The only blue filter that goes in my truck, the blue filter from the Big Blue Oval.

The stock filter is made by Donaldson. They are an industrial filter manufacturer that made the 6.0L filter for the military in the first Gulf War. You can't beat it.
You should get 60,000 miles in "normal" service.
The aftermarket filters don't equal the filtration the stock filter gives. The dyno numbers I looked at for K&N, don't show any improvement on performance untill after 2500 rpm. Most of the highway driving I do doesn't get higher than that. Most aftermarkets for the 6.0 I have seen are a variation of the K&N. So why fix something that ain't broke?
I didnt know the electronically controlled direct injectid variable boost turbo 4 valve 6.0 IH was around when George Sr. was at the helm.Probably could have used some of that Donaldson technology on the first Apaches that showed up from what I can recall.K&N doesnt make a replacement for the 6.0 from what I could find. But for sure aFe and Green or Airaid are all after a piece of K&Ns market share with equall or better product.
