Turn Signal, Multi-switch

Bad multi-switch in 98 Explorer, Dealership says that you cannot just replace the multi-switch. They say that I also need to get an adapter cable and wire it in. Is this true and is it easy or hard to do. Thanks.

I replaced my multifunction switch(if your referring to the turn signal, windshield wiper switch) in my 97 explorer and was never told about any rewiring a cable in. Don't know what they are referring to there. And it is fairly easy to put in, took me about 10 minutes to do.

I've never heard anything about an adapter cable?!?!? I've replaced mine before and took about as long as mvoeller did...

I was getting the "buzzing" sound from the turn signal switch when I would flip it to the right turn. I took my switch out, disassembled it, cleaned the contacts with a scotch bright pad, relubed it and it hasn't "buzzed" since. Maybe you could try that first.
