88 ranger transmission help needed
I have a 1988 ranger with a 2.3L 4 cyl and automatic overdrive transmission. The overdrive transmission has gone out and I'm in need of a replacement. I was wondering if there is a non over drive transmission that will work in that truck or if an overdrive transmission out of a mustang would work and if so... what years would be the same in the mustang? please help me avoid paying $1000 or so that it would cost to have the overdrive rebuilt. Its just a work truck that I've been using for years and hate to get rid of cause it would cost too much to fix the tranny. Thanks for any help anyone can provide to a fellow ranger owner in need
