Wow, some good points being made here. I think the term Kevin's trying to throw out, (feel free to flame if I'm wrong!..), is, "informal leader."

When I read the guidelines for chapter leader, the term, "Chapter Spokesman," comes to mind. All the chapters are made up of individuals and to keep things going smoothly it's nice to have an, "organizer", that can post stickys, throw out ideas for comment by the members and promote FTE in an official capacity.

I believe this person shouldn't feel any pressure to set any kind of tone for how a chapter is, other than the basic guidelines FTE already has in place. By being, "just", another member, this position could be held by just about anybody that has a desire to do it.

There will be a change of the guard at some point and by keeping things low key I can see fewer problems with flame wars on how things are run, if the chapter spokesman/organizer doesn't run anything.
