awesome site, need everybody's .02$ worth. have a 01 250 ext cab psd 38's. wondering what tuner to get, edge, predator etc etc etc, to many to choose from and everybody has something to say. just want a lil more power, dont care about the fuel economy b/c it sucks anyway. if anybody has an opinion shoot it my way, thank you.
I've been looking at the Edge. I like that you can install a monitor to get turbo and EGT readings without having to cut into the exhaust manifold or tee into the turbo. THey have a killer looking pillar mount for the monitor too. From what I have read...the Predator is a bad *****, but I'd rather have the in-truck control. Also...based on what I have read on this site over the past 6 months...I would say that the dealers will know if you had a programmer even if you restore the original config...particularly if you fry your engine while it's in a performance setting due to the swirls on the piston tops, etc.
I have not driven with either of them so I can only speculate on performance. People seem to really like both of them. I am "this close" to buying one for my truck and will probably go with the Edge system. The Banks 6-gun was featured on Trucks TV and looked pretty sweet too, but costs tall stacks of cash.
Another GREAT feature about the PowerStroke...choices.
Okay, I was misinformed on the Edge...in order to get EGT you need to install a sensor..their advertisements lead me to believe that it would gather that info from the computer in the truck. Bummer. I am going to shut up and listen now.
Both of my trucks have the edge with attitude controllers. The incab control is great! The only problem I can see is the defueling that occurs during shifting to protect the tranny. Therefore next is a tranny upgrade of some sort. You can not beat the ease of install and performance gains for the price. I agree the banks system is sweet but pricy. I am not as familiar with others because of the edge attitude controller. YOU WILL LOVE IT!!!
