I just found out the the 302 I swooped in by 93 F-150 is a 95 or newer moter (the firing order changed). The new 302 was complete I just droped it in and I have two questions.
1. How do I find the year of the motor or does it matter?
2. Do I need to do any thing with the computer? replace it with a 95 or newer computer? reprogram the 93 computer?
Right now I get 9-10 MPG and have a spout open code that I can't find an open for, this leads me to a problem with computer.
Since your swapping to a newer style engine, I would try and get the wiring harness, and computer from the vehicle the engine came from. It should be a pretty easy swap.
You could most likely get the part number off of the block and get your local Ford service department to decode it.
