security system

It won't lock.....I hit the key pad to lock the doors, it locks.....then unlocks itself. At deer camp last weekend (killed a 200# hawg by the way ) we watched the Exp sit and lock and unlock itself. Next morning I poured coke on the positive battery terminal to clean crud off thinking maybe that was contributing to the problem......didn't change a thing. What's failing on the system?

If you lock your door with the key fob,but still have a set of keys in the ignition, the system is designed to unlock the doors automatically to prevent accidental lockouts. I think the system operates this way rather the vehicle is running or not. I think if you use the keypad on the outside of the door, it overrides the auto unlock feature. You may need to read your owners manual for all the details.

I would get ride of the stock security system and go with one from Auto Page with remote start/keyless entry

This is a 99 Eddie Bauer, nice package (loaded) and haven't had a problem from day one. Locking with the remote keypad is done without a key in ignition.....I'm due for service at the Ford dealer, I'll let you know what I learn.
