Front spring/airbag question

My 97 4x4 front springs have seemed to sag about 2 inches from the original arch.... from what I have seen, this seems to be a normal "problem" for the earlier PSD's.

I was looking at putting a 4 inch lift on, but have decided that I want the option of using a snow blade if I need to, and not have to get a pair of drywall stilts for the wife to get into the truck.

Any of you use front airbags or know of a good vendor for a spring kit?

Pros and cons of bags? Tips for putting new springs in?

Been putting this off for quite a while and still need help deciding what to do.

Thanks for the help.

Does your truck have independent front suspension?

I don't believe that it does. I haven't paid any attention to IFS setups on the Fords, but my front end is attached to the leaf springs with no torsion bars. I bet you can't tell that I am not a suspension wizard!

Is there a pivot point at the center of the axle near the diff?

No, just put new rubber on about 6 months ago, minor alignment problems were corrected then along w/new shocks. Tires are wearing evenly. This pivot point... does it indicate IFS?

When the springs start to sag the tires will lean in at the top beyond the point an alignment will correct. Air bags are not an option for the IFS. The answer is up to you, lift or no lift.

Thanks mech2161, I appreciate your input and informing me that I have IFS on my truck. I thought it was a solid front end!

I was under the impression that most IFS had front coil springs w/torsion bars.

Again, thanks.
