>Starting to get cold here in IL. Since I’ve changed out my air filter, I hear my turbo much more. Recently, I’ve noticed that after a few minutes of warm up in the morning (Block heater plugged in a few hours before starting), when starting out for the first time. I am hearing a squeak starting at about 1500 rpm’s when pulling out and if I stop the truck, the squeak slowly stops. At first I thought that it was my brakes, but I stopped fast one time and I still heard the squeaking (listen, this is what it sounds like over the internet, some fast Squeaks, slower squeaks, squeeeak, squeeeeak, then stops), will not hear it again until about 1500 rpm's, let off of the gas, squeaks taper down and stops after a few seconds (5 to 10 seconds). After a few minutes of driving and stopping, I can not hear it any more until the next time I start up my truck (cold). Should I start to get worried? Just wondering if I have to start saving up for a new one. I have too many things on my wish list to have to replace a turbo.
mech2161,
How much end play should I expect when it is cold? Warm? Also how much resistance will there be when I try to turn the shaft of the turbo by hand? Just trying to get as much info before jumping in, than having a lot of questions after I finish.
Thanks for posting your responses.
Dave
