head bolt torque??

Tomorrow I plan on putting the heads back on my old girl. I just realized I have no idea what the bolts should be torqued to. Can someone let me know?

I have the service manual for 1953 trucks which has general specs for the different motors available for that year. The 239 Y-block is among those motors. Head bolt torque should be between 65-70 lbs. I've got a diagram here showing bolt tightening sequence. If that's something that you could use, I could scan it and post it in my gallery for your reference. Let my know. Good luck. jvmcc

56f600,
I don't know what motor you have, but on the chance that it is the 239, I put a photo of the head bolt tightening sequence in my gallery in the album titled factory lift bracket.

torque

The Eichman book calls for tightening first to 55, then 65, then 75 lbs.-ft in sequence.
