Quick Thermostat Answers

Alright boys i fixed my carb and transfercase. Then my radiator started leaking. Bought a new radiator today and i figured i might aswell do the thermo while i'm at it. Well the water neck is cracked so i bought a new one. What is the right place ment for the gasket and thermostat in this engine?

Does the gasket go on the neck then the thermo goes in the block?
Or is it the opposite?

1) thermo in neck 2) gasket on neck. always good to use a contact gasket sealant and make the thremo does not slip down when installing.

ok thanks i have some of that Blue RTV sealant that can be used by it self so i'll use that.

has any one had a problem with the housing leaking around the bottom?
