/i just recently bought a 99 f250 sd, with the 5.4 L. when i test drove it, it started to misfire, and it was thought at the time to be water in the fuel. the salesguy stated that if the problem didnt change then to bring it in and they would take care of it. so, after a week, the problem was the same, and with a lot of research on my part, i was led to think that the #4 cop was bad. but with the ext. warranty, i said why not, just bring it in. but, the salesman was on vacation in another state, and the service dept (this was at a chevy dealership.... sorry ) said that i needed to change all cop's, and plugs for 1,200.00.... warranty would not cover "corroded" coils. so, i got mad, got my truck back and cured the problem for just 70.00, and about 3 hours of my time..... by changing the plugs and the #4 cop. so, to my question..... if this is such a known problem, has ford done anything to cure it.... are there any recalls, or aftermarket shields i could install? thanks a bunch to anyone who can help !!!
