They say the stock ratio is 1:75,I'am looking to use 1:85.This is for a 79 460 f250 2wd

I'll be pulling the motor soon and while it's out might as well try to get some more out of it.My goal is torque as I use it for towing.Other things to put in,straight timimg gears and headers.
I believe you can get 1.8:1, but they'll be some type of aftermarket rocker with a minimum price of around $200 for anything decent. I'm not sure the cost would match the performance gain.
The Comp Cams 255DEH is an excellent choice. I think Crane also makes a similar grind, though I've never used it. The 255DEH seems to work really well with the mild bolt-on mods like you're planning. Anything more quickly becomes counterproductive as the stock heads can't breath well enough to support the cam. Don't be suprised if your fuel economy actually improves a small bit (if you keep your foot out of it).
