Question AIC in a 97???

Hey how is everyone?? I just have a quick question about my 97... i was under the impression that they didn't have a stock AIC/ "wet stacking" prevention device, and i was all set to purchase one (althought i didn't really like the price). But this mourning it was 6* out.... and i have new bateries and good glow system, so i figured i wouldn't have to plug her in.... i waited about a min with the glows active before i cranked her over and she fired right up. The idle, although, jumped up to about 1000 rpm, which is unusual because it normally idles at about 600-(even when its relatively cold...about 30ish), my question is this: was the PCM just making accomidations for the cold weather via the air temp sensor?? or does the truck have an AIC?? i was under the impression that 97's did not have one from the factory.... I don't want to have any problems with "wet stacking" so i was going to get one.... but if it already has one.. then their is no point.... as a note the idle remained at about 1000 rpm's for about 45 sec, untill i touched the gas and it droped back down... Thanks and have a good one!!

My truck does the same thing. I think it does have a cold high idle setting. As far as wet stacking I think the only time you need to worry about is prolonged idling >15-20 mins. and then shutting the truck off. If your just letting your truck warm up and then driving it I woul'nt think it would be an issue.

The PCM does high idle due to cooler temp. But if you want to have manual control of the idle speed, you can build you own AIC for less than $20 with parts from Radio Shack or Mouser Electronics. I found the instructions on this site. Search for "homemade AIC". I did mine while wiring up my "switched 10k mod".
