head gaskets

my 89 is going to need at tyhe minimum head gaskets.i wont know if the heads are ok til i have them magna-fluxed.heres my question.is there a particular hi-performance aftermarket head gasket i should use?i intend on eventually putting a turbo on it.maybe even upgrading some more.i figured if i would need a hi-po gasket then that i would go ahead and put one in while i was in there.thanks for the advice!kevin.

the stock engine was made to handle a turbo, it kinda sucks that ford didn't put a turbo on the engine it would have help so much. i'm guessing that it's a 6.9 right?

An 89 had a 7.3.

The head bolt torque is higher for the turbo engine, gaskets are the same.

Off the top of my head the NA motor is 90 ft lbs while the turo model is 110 ft lbs.

4X4 ....Felpro states the max for 7.3 ........

88 to 90 is 65-90-100

91-94 non turbo is 65-90-110 and 110 again "Special sequence"

However point to remember there are two different torque specs....Ford does it there way to preserve the engine parts, Fel Pro does not want their gaskets to leak, so you have to balance the numbers to who you trust.
