Overcharging

96 F150 I6, tested battery and got readings of high 14's(14.65-14.80). gauge shows that it is overcharging. sometimes have problems starting, it takes many cranks and sometimes need WOT. any suggestions???? have tried 2 batteries, possibly alternator??? often get to stop light and lights go dim but truck doesn't stall.

I would look at the voltage regulator first.

You might also clean all your connections related to starting...battery, solenoid, ground. Your symptoms fit poor connections.
