94 ranger 2.3l, there is a vibration, I guess from the rear or under
the truck??, the truck shakes like slight bumping, I can feel it only at high
speeds around 70 to 75 mhp, the steering wheel does not shake, it's like
driving on bumping road, but the road it's good!!, I worry that something
may brake soon, the truck has new tires (4), rotated, new front shocks,
the rear ones are ok, the steering wheel doesn't move or shakes in any
way so the front end it's good, but when I jump on the freeway and the
speed reaches 70 or higher starts to vibrate, below that speed it's ok,
and the vibration gets worse on if start turning the steering wheel a bit,
keeping that speed, anyone here had this problem???,rear driveshaft maybe??
but if a bad driveshaft, should feel it at any speed right ????,.
have you made sure that the tires all have the same pressure and they are balnced and all tourqued the same??
Yes!!
all 4 tires are brand new radials, I had the same problem with the old ones,
the shaking doesn't go away even with new tires or rotation, if the
problem was related to tires or rims, or out of balance I should felt it
on the steering wheel with the rotation, so I'm 90% sure it's not tires or
rims, and front end, like I said before it's ok, tires were balanced when purchased, I guess a bad tire/rim can be easy detected, with a back to
front tire rotation??
It sounds like you might have a bad u-joint. Try grabbing the drive shaft and moving it and looking for any looseness. I hope this information helps you.
that sounds very interested, I will take a look tomorrow w/ daylight, now excuse my
mechanical ignorance!, but those weights where exacly are located and what they
look like????
they will usually be on either end of the driveshaft and are small hunks of metal, mine has a circular one and a square one, each about a half inch wide.
definatly check the u-joints and grease them while you are under there.

Ok, El conquistador,
Q: does this truck has a single cardan type shaft??
when buying the u joint parts it comes complete including the snap rings??
any idea how much $ the u joint parts are ??
can I reinstall the same drive shaft to axle bolts?? or need new ones?
does the spider comes with the new kit?? or reinstall the same old one??
I could also be a bent rim. I think I have a bent rim. If you dont feel it in the steering then it is one of the back rims. I would check that out because when you bend your rim it will vibrate like no other plus it is easy to do on the aluminum rims
cadriver...dont replace the u-joints if you dont need to, only if you wabble the driveshaft by hand.
grease monkey...rotate your tires and see if the vibration follows.
Hey guys!!!
The U joints are ok (no play), rear shocks's ok, I'm not sure about the rear rims, they
were rotated before many times and I can't pin point exactly where the vibration 's
come from???, I noticed that all 4 aluminum rims have some edges scratches from
hiting the curves from a previous owner, but someone can awnser this????
If the wheels were balanced w/ weights, that should fix any balance problem right???
besides all these checks I"m running out of clues!!
